Roman Catholics Teach the Exact Same False Meaning of “Born Again” as Lordship Salvationists!

by David J. Stewart

Galatians 1:7 and 9, “…there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ … As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”

The following quote is taken from a 100% devout Catholic website, authored by David MacDonald, which clearly reveals that all of the apostate Contemporary Christian Music [CCM] singers, sinister ecumenical ministers, and Lordship Salvationists; totally AGREE with Catholic theology (which is unbiblical heresy and lies of Satan).

The following is damnable heresy and a FALSE GOSPEL from David MacDonald’s website…

“Note: If you have never made a personal commitment to Christ. If you have never asked him into your heart and to be Lord of your life, I encourage you to do that now.

Are Catholics Born Again?

I think Evangelicals and Catholics totally agree about the awesomeness of a personal encounter with Jesus. In Pope Benedict XVI’s new encyclical, ‘Spe Salvi’ we read:

‘Life in its true sense is not something we have exclusively in or from ourselves, it is a relationship. And life in its totality is a relationship with him who is the source of life. If we are in relation with him who does not die, who is life itself and love itself, then we are in life. Then we ‘live… Our relationship with God is established through communion with Jesus — we cannot achieve it alone or from our own resources alone.’

Much debate has set Catholic ‘Baptism’ against the Evangelical ‘Born again’ concept. I think that greater common ground can be found if we compare the Evangelical ‘Born Again’ experience to the Catholic Second Conversion experience which is when a Catholic surrenders to Jesus with an attitude of ‘Jesus, take my will and my life, I give everything to you.’  This is a spontaneous thing that happens during the journey of faithful Catholics who ‘get it.’ Yup, the Catholic Church teaches a personal relationship with Christ:”

SOURCE: http://www.davidmacd.com/catholic/born_again_catholics.htm

That is EXACTLY what John MacArthur, Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron, CCM singers, Max Lucado, Rick Warren, Moody Bible Institute, and all the other Lordship Salvationists are teaching today. In case you haven’t realized it yet, Lordship Salvation is CATHOLIC DOCTRINE!!! David MacDonald claims that evangelical Christians and Catholics agree that salvation is an “experience” in which a person “surrenders to Jesus with an attitude of ‘Jesus, take my will and my life, I give everything to you.’”

May I say, that is a doctrine of devils. Being born again is NOT an “experience” as David MacDonald refers to, nor is it surrendering one’s life to Christ; it is a lost sinner being saved by the power of God (John 1:12-13). It is a miracle of God in response to a man’s faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I tell you that the Catholic religion is Satanic through and through.

Being born-again is a new birth—a second birth, a spiritual birth into the kingdom of God. It is having He (Jesus) Who is the Beginning (Revelation 1:8) born in us. Just as the physical birth (first birth) brought us into this earthly life, so also does the spiritual birth (second birth) bring us into God’s family.

The Salvation Army follows the heresy of their founders, William and Catherine Booth, who considered salvation a “state” that could be lost if one failed to continue in obedient faith. May I say, salvation is NOT a “state,” it is a new birth. It is a second birth, a spiritual birth. The spiritual birth is as irreversible as the physical birth. The teaching that salvation is a “state” that is conditional upon “continued obedient faith” is demonic works-salvation. The believer’s salvation is secure in Christ’s finished work of redemption. Jesus died, was buried and arose. He ascended into Heaven. The blood has been applied to the heavenly mercy seat (Hebrews 9:12,24). The price has been paid.

I KNOW I am saved because eternal life is rooted in the PROMISES of God (Titus 1:2); and not upon how good I’m doing in life as a believer. My salvation is secure in Jesus Christ and has nothing to do with my efforts. Eternal life is a gift (Ephesians 2:8-9). A gift has no strings attached. Our part is simply to trust upon the name of Jesus. God does the saving (John 1:12-13). Salvation is not a state, nor an experience, nor a feeling; but rather, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever” (1st Peter 1:23). We are born anew of the Spirit of God (John 3:5) by the seed of God’s Word. Amen!

Catholics, CCM singers, ecumenical ministers, Lordship Salvationists, and other apostates, all talk about being born-again as a feeling or an experience; but they deny the power thereof (2nd Timothy 3:5), which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Romans 1:16; 1st Corinthians 15:1-4). Notice in the preceding quote that David MacDonald, admittedly a devout Catholic, continually refers to being born-again as an “EXPERIENCE (just as the apostate Newsboys CCM group do)!

David MacDonald defines being “born-again” the exact same way as apostate CCM singers and sinister ecumenical ministers, teaching, “Jesus, take my will and my life, I give everything to you.” That is a false Gospel. Judas was one of Christ’s very Apostles, a follower of Jesus, but still went to Hell. Jesus called Judas a devil (John 6:70).

Notice that the mention of “sin” is not made. Being born-again is a matter of having one’s sins taken away by the precious blood of Jesus Christ (1st Peter 1:18-19; John 1:7; Revelation 1:5). Colossians 1:14, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” The Pope doesn’t mention “sin” when he speaks of being born-again. David MacDonald talks about having an experience, just as the evil Newsboys sing and teach; but they leave off any mention of coming to God as a guilty, hell-deserving “sinner” (Romans 3:19).

Modern apostates jumble a bunch of Biblical terms into their fruit cocktail of religious music and sermonettes; but fail to present the Biblical Gospel of a man coming to God as a guilty sinner and trusting upon the Lord, apart from all self-righteous works, to be forgiven (Romans 4:5-6; Ephesians 2:8-9). Jesus died, was buried, and rose again for our sins (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). Salvation is not a feeling, nor an experience; it is a miracle of God in response to a sinner’s faith in the Son of God, Jesus Christ (John 20:31; Romans 10:3-4; Galatians 3:26).

Asking Jesus to “take your will and life,” and “giving everything to Him”; are not the ways to be saved. This is made clear in Matthew 7:21-23. In verse 21, Jesus said, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Jesus said You must do “the will of the Father.” What is the will of God how to be saved? John 6:40 tells us exactly what the will of God concerning salvation is… “And THIS IS THE WILL of Him [God the Father] that sent Me [God the Son], that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” Amen and amen! So there you have it, the will of God how to be saved, i.e., to believe on Jesus Christ. The will if God is to BELIEVE… to BELIEVE… to BELIEVE on Jesus Christ, as the Son of God.

1st Corinthians 15:1-4, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

Ray Comfort’s THE EVIDENCE BIBLE Exposed!

By David J. Stewart

I have a copy of THE EVIDENCE BIBLE in front of me. I have spent much time studying it’s pages, which are commented extensively by Ray Comfort. I can honestly say that THE EVIDENCE BIBLE contains MUCH good commentary, quotes and theologically correct teachings; HOWEVER, Ray Comfort has been caught up into the damnable heresy of Lordship Salvation.

The Devil has crept into many churches today through the teaching of Lordship Salvation, i.e., the false doctrine that a person must literally forsake their sin to be saved. Biblical repentance is turning to Jesus Christ to be saved from one’s sins; not turning from one’s sins as a prerequisite to be saved. There is a fine line between faith and foolishness.

Ray Comfort Corrupts Matthew 7:22,23

“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” —Matthew 7:22,23

On page 1197 of THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, Ray Comfort comments on Matthew 7:22,23…

“These are perhaps the most frightening verses in the Bible. Vast multitudes of professing Christians fit into the category spoken of here. They call Jesus ‘Lord,’ but they practice lawlessness. They profess faith in Jesus, but have no regard for the divine law. They tell ‘fibs’ or ‘white’ lies, take things that belong to others, have a roaming eye for the opposite sex, etc. They are liars, thieves, and adulterers at heart, who will be cast from the gates of heaven into the jaws of hell.”

SOURCE: THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, by Ray Comfort, pg. 1197; 2003, Bridge-Logos Publishers, Orlando, Florida

Ladies and gentleman, Ray Comfort is teaching works salvation! According to what we just read by Ray Comfort, every believer who is still living in deliberate sin won’t be allowed into Heaven.

The correct interpretation of Matthew 7:22,23 must include verse 21…

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”

What is “the will of the Father”? The answer is found in John 6:40…

“And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”

The group in Matthew 7:21-23 were unsaved because they refused to do God’s will concerning salvation. It wasn’t because they still had personal sins in their life. Every believer still has sin in their life! We all sin every day. That’s not to say that we have God’s approval to sin, God forbid (Romans 3:31). It just means that even the best of Christians are still sinners. Ray Comfort wrestles the Scriptures to his own destruction.

John 3:20 states… “For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved” (John 3:20). Such apostates are willing to follow a false gospel or a milquetoast preacher like Joel Osteen. However, it is not one’s unwillingness to forsake personal sins that prevent a person from being saved; but rather, one’s love for such sins. In John 5:40 Jesus said, “And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.” Jesus didn’t say, “Ye cannot come.” He said, “Ye WILL NOT come.” But if such a sinner does come to Jesus, acknowledging his guilt of sin and sincerely desiring to be forgiven, the Lord will save him eternally.

Ray Comfort perverts Matthew 7:22,23 by claiming that false prophets are those who claim to be Christians; but are not because of sin in their life, i.e., because they have not literally forsaken their sins yet. Clearly, Mr. Comfort is teaching works salvation. Satan is a master liar and deceiver and his ministers are turned into ministers of righteousness (2nd Corinthians 11:13,14). There are many groups who falsely profess to be “Christian” nowadays, but it’s not because they still have sin in their life… it’s because they’re trusting their own self-righteousness; namely, Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Seventh-Day Adventists, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Christian Scientists, Scientologists, Lordship Salvationists and innumerable others.

Every proponent of Lordship Salvation claims that eternal is a free gift, provided by God’s free grace, and that works are not essential to salvation; yet, they 100% contradict themselves when they mandate a changed life as part of saving faith. Forsaking one’s sins is the FRUIT of genuine repentance; not a prerequisite to being saved.

Jesus clearly taught that the reason why the group in Matthew 7:21-23 wasn’t saved is because they had failed to do GOD’S WILL. John 6:40 tells us that God’s will is for us to BELIEVE ON JESUS CHRIST. Ray Comfort would have us to believe that forsaking one’s sins is God’s will for salvation; but that is NOT what the Bible says at all.

What About Charles Spurgeon?

As with other false prophets, Ray Comfort leans heavily upon the quotes of historically great men to support his unbiblical position. THE EVIDENCE BIBLE quotes Spurgeon often. Unfortunately, Ray Comfort (as does John MacArthur) horribly take Charles Spurgeon’s words out of context, and claim that Spurgeon taught Lordship Salvation. Nothing could be further from the truth, as this quote by Spurgeon himself plainly reveals…

“You must not expect that you will be perfect in “repentance” before you are saved. No Christian can be perfect. “Repentance” is a grace. Some people preach it as a condition of salvation. Condition of nonsense! There are no conditions of salvation. God gives the salvation himself…

— Charles Spurgeon

SOURCE: http://www.spurgeon.org/sermons/0044.htm (from a sermon preached at the New Park Street Chapel, Southwark, on September 23, 1855)

Why doesn’t Ray Comfort quote those words by Spurgeon? Ray Comfort is guilty of twisting the Scriptures around and misrepresenting the beliefs of Spurgeon to support his unbiblical position.

Birds of a Feather Flock Together

If Ray Comfort wants to tout about “repentance,” he ought to start with his sidekick Kirk Cameron, who stated:

“I never had a desire to leave mainstream Hollywood. And still don’t think that I’ve left mainstream Hollywood.” Kirk Cameron

How can Mr. Cameron go around preaching for people to repent, when he hasn’t forsaken the cesspool of Hollywood? To no surprise, Kirk Cameron is a follower of the Modernist John MacArthur! On Kirk Cameroon’s website, he voices praises for the John MacArthur Study Bible. This explains where Mr. Cameron and Ray Comfort get their Lordship Salvation heresy from, because John MacArthur is Mr. Lordship Salvation himself.

MacArthur is also a proponent of the corrupt New International Version of the Bible, which also teaches Lordship Salvation in Romans 10:9.  John MacArthur is a WOLF in sheep’s clothing (Matthew 7:15), and his Study Bible is extremely dangerous. MacArthur is a confused man. Please read, John MacArthur’s Lame Bible Commentary. As they say, the nut never falls too far from the tree.  Followers of pastor MacArthur are a corrupted bunch, who instead of SEARCHING THE SCRIPTURES as Jesus commanded in John 5:39, are searching the writings of John MacArthur for answers.  “Yea, let God be true, but every man a liar…” (Romans 3:4).

Living a Consecrated Life Verses Saving Faith

If a person has genuinely repented unto salvation, then there should be a change in that person’s life (2nd Corinthians 5:17); BUT the change comes AFTERWARDS, and not as a prerequisite to be saved as Lordship Salvationists teach.  This is what James meant when he said, “Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works” (James 2:18).  Proponents of Lordship Salvation confuse the “fruit” of genuine repentance with the “root” of saving faith.  James is speaking about the FRUIT of our Christian faith; not the ROOT, which Paul speaks of in Romans 4:3-5.  In Genesis 15:6, Abraham was justified by FAITH in the eyes of God; BUT in Genesis 22, Abraham was justified by WORKS in the eyes of men when he offered up Isaac (James 2:21).  Many people today are confused between these two.

Please Read: Dr. John R. Rice Refutes Lordship Salvation.

There should be some type of change in a professed Christian’s life. Something is very wrong with a group like JC’s Girls, who profess to be Christians, who have been praised on The 700 Club; BUT, JC’s Girls are of the Devil, still promoting lesbianism, pornography, rock-n-roll, and escort [prostitution] services. Imposters! Hypocritically, Ray Comfort actually has an endorsement from Terry Meeuwsen of THE 700 CLUB on the first page on THE EVIDENCE BIBLE. Ray Comfort is an ecumenical sellout.

Although it is true that Christians are still sinners, no genuine believer feels that they have a license to freely sin.  If there was true repentance at the time of salvation, then a person’s mind will have changed towards sin.  This is not to say that a person has to forsake their sins to be saved; BUT, rather, if there was a genuine regeneration of the soul, then the Holy Spirit will convict that child of God about sin (Hebrews 12:6-8).

The Evidence Bible Caters to Catholic Unbelievers

Ray Comfort needs to repent himself and separate from unbelievers

The first thing I noticed on the front cover of THE EVIDENCE BIBLE is an endorsement from Franklin Graham, Billy Graham’s son. There are also numerous quotes by Billy and Franklin Graham throughout THE EVIDENCE BIBLE. Anyone who knows anything about Billy Graham knows that he is yoked together with The Great Whore of Catholicism. It is clear to me from THE EVIDENCE BIBLE that Ray Comfort is afraid to offend Roman Catholics. That is my opinion.

Few believers realize just how evil Billy Graham truly is. On April 2nd , 2005, Billy Graham told Larry King on the Larry King Live Show that he believes Pope John Paul II is in Heaven. I’m going to vomit… Pope John Paul II in Heaven Mr. Graham? You’ve got to be kidding? Here’s the quote…

LARRY KING: There is no question in your mind that he is with God now?

BILLY GRAHAM: Oh, no. There may be a question about my own, but I don’t think Cardinal Wojtyla, or the Pope — I think he’s with the Lord, because he believed. He believed in the Cross. That was his focus throughout his ministry, the Cross, no matter if you were talking to him from personal issue or an ethical problem, he felt that there was the answer to all of our problems, the cross and the resurrection. And he was a strong believer.

SOURCE: http://www.cbn.com/spirituallife/BibleStudyAndTheology/Perspectives/ANS_PopeGrahamCaviezel.aspx

The Catholic Church teaches that faith AND works are required to get to Heaven. According to their Catechism, it is mandatory for every Catholic to be water baptized to get to Heaven, and also to keep all of the 7-Sacraments. Obviously, Billy Graham has a devil. I believe Billy Graham is an unsaved modernist who has never found true salvation in Jesus Christ. How can a man be saved who thinks the Pope is in Heaven? Why does Mr. Comfort hypocritically associate with such a compromised, worldly, false prophet? 1st Timothy 6:10 comes to mind… “For the love of money is the root of all evil.”

How could Ray Comfort, who touts about repentance, repentance, repentance… promote Billy Graham and his pathetic ministry? On page 1716 of THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, it says that Ray Comfort “has written extensively on evangelism, including writing for Billy Graham’s Decision Magazine.” Next to the Catholic pope, Billy Graham was the biggest false prophet of the 20th century!!! Will Ray Comfort take Billy Graham’s place as the next prophet of Baal?

In 1957, Graham said, “Anyone who makes a decision at our meetings is seen later and referred to a local clergyman, Protestant, Catholic, or Jewish” (San Francisco News). According to The Florida Catholic (September 1983) 600 people were turned over to the Catholic religion as a result of an Orlando crusade. At Billy Graham’s 1984 Vancouver, British Columbia crusade, the vice-chairman of the organizing committee said, “If a Catholic steps forward there will be no attempt to convert them and their names will be given to the Catholic church nearest their homes” (Vancouver Sunday, October 5, 1984). Woe unto Billy Graham! Billy Graham even had a Catholic priest SUPERVISE the 6,600 counselors for a Denver crusade. Information on the hundreds of Catholics who came forward were sent to a Catholic organization in Denver (Wilson Ewin, Evangelism: The Trojan Horse of the 1990s). This is not Biblical Christianity! The Catholic Church is of the Devil, straight from the pits of Hell. Sadly, Pope John Paul II is Burning in Hell forever.

In the index at the end of THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, on page 1715 under the word “Witnessing,” Ray Comfort lists several groups and how to witness the Gospel to them. The list includes witnessing to: acquaintances, blasphemers, Buddhists, coworkers, family members, Hindus, homosexuals, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Jews, Mormons, Muslims, neighbors, non-English speakers, someone in denomination, telemarketers, and the bereaved; but he doesn’t mention how to witness to THE BIGGEST CULT IN THE WORLD… ROMAN CATHOLICS!!!

Now I did find something on pg. 1358 titled, “How to Witness to a Moslem, a Roman catholic, a Homosexual and an Intellectual”; but I couldn’t find a listing to the page anywhere. It’s as if Mr. Comfort didn’t really want anyone to find it; but at least he can say it’s there. Ray Comfort has an index in the front and back on his book to help the reader find various topics; but I couldn’t find any mention of “witnessing to a Catholic.” It is clear to me that Mr. Comfort is going easy on Catholics as to avoid losing support. This is my sincere opinion. I mean, why would Mr. Comfort FAIL to list Catholics in his index anywhere?

There are an estimated 1,000,000,000 Catholics in the world, all bound for Hell in a prisonhouse of religion. On pg. 1358 Mr. Comfort address witnessing to a Moslem, a Roman Catholic, a homosexual and an intellectual. Why not address the Catholic cult by itself as he does Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims? He can’t, because Billy Graham and other apostates would drop him in a heartbeat. It all boils down to making money. Neither Billy nor Franklin Graham would ever endorse anyone who openly criticizes the cult of Roman Catholicism and fights against it. Ray Comfort is weak-kneed when it comes to standing up against the almighty Catholic religion. You don’t have to wonder where I stand… the Catholic Church is Satanic!!!

Lest he should offend any Catholics, on pg. 1358 Ray Comfort states…

“There are millions of Catholics and Protestants who have never been born again and need to hear the gospel”

SOURCE: THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, by Ray Comfort, pg. 1358; 2003, Bridge-Logos Publishers, Orlando, Florida

Although that is a true statement by Mr. Comfort, the fact of the matter is that Catholics by doctrine are all going straight to Hell, because they are trusting upon a works-based salvation (i.e., self-righteousness). In sharp contrast, most Protestant churches hold to a Free Grace view of the Gospel. I just don’t understand why, or how, Ray Comfort would bring Protestant believers down to the same level as the damnable Catholic religion.  The fact of the matter is that there are millions of saved Protestants; but there are NO SAVED CATHOLICS if they are genuine Catholics.

Catholics think that doing good works are necessary to have eternal life. Romans 10:3-4 plainly condemns the Catholic religion as being demonic…

“For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”

To no surprise, Ray Comfort fails to comment on Romans 10:3,4 in THE EVIDENCE BIBLE. As with other apostates today, Mr. Comfort attacks soulwinners who preach the simplicity that is in Christ; while he dare not expose the vile cesspool of homosexuality, child rape, filth, self-righteousness and arrogant Catholic priests who profess to have the power to forgive sin. Ray Comfort is far more concerned with attacking soulwinners who preach the simplicity that is in Christ than he is with the behemoth false religion of Catholicism which is leading hundreds-of-millions of souls into damnation!!! Who needs to repent?  Beware of the Child Molesting Catholic Church!

Ray Comfort Misinterprets 1st Timothy 4:3,4

As further evidence against THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, consider Ray Comfort’s blatant misinterpretation of 1st Timothy 4:3,4…

“One of the signs of the end of this age is that people would try to impose a vegetarian lifestyle on others…”

Source: THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, by Ray Comfort, pg. 1575; 2003, Bridge-Logos Publishers, Orlando, Florida

1st Timothy 4:1-4 in the King James Bible states…

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving.”

Mr. Comfort completely ignores the parts about “forbidding to marry” and “doctrines of devils” and “speaking lies in hypocrisy” and “having their conscience seared with a hot iron.” This passage of Scripture is not talking about vegetarians or PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). How absurd! This passage of Scripture is warning us about FALSE PROPHETS, who require celibacy and forbid eating meats as part of their religious superstitions. Look no further than the Roman Catholic Church!!!

It is because of the unbiblical celibacy laws within the Catholic Church that sexual abuse has become rampant. As just the tip-of-the-iceberg, the Pope has covered up for 4,500 priests who’ve molested over 11,000 children since 1950!!! Yet, Ray Comfort diminishes the warning in 1st Timothy 4:1-4 to refer merely to proponents of vegetarianism. You’ve got to be kidding Ray? Why is Ray Comfort protecting the demonic Catholic Church? ‘Com on Ray, repent!
The “Comfort-able KJV” Perverts the Scriptures

Please don’t be deceived by what Ray Comfort terms the…

‘Comfort-able Bible’-a sensitively revised King James Bible, in which archaic words have been simplified to make God’s Word more understandable’

Source: THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, by Ray Comfort, pg. iv; 2003, Bridge-Logos Publishers, Orlando, Florida

Don’t believe Mr. Comfort’s lie that it’s just a harmless alteration to God’s Word. A classic case in point is Matthew 6:13…

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”

Ray Comfort’s “comfort-able KJV” errantly reads…

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”

The word “Thine” is 2nd Person singular, which refers to the One True God. In contrast, the word “yours” is 2nd person plural, and could refer to polytheism (multiple gods). Gratefully, we quickly gain an appreciation for the NECESSITY of the archaic English language. Today’s modern English language does no justice to the meaning of the Scriptures.
The Damnable “Amplified Bible”

Also, as stated on pg. iv of THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, Ray Comfort quotes from the vile “Amplified Bible” in his book. Ladies and gentlemen, the Amplified Bible is straight out of the pits of Hell. Here is Philippians 2:6 as quoted from the Amplified Bible…

“6Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [[b]possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not [c]think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped [d]or retained.” (Amplified Bible)

So according to the Amplified Bible Jesus couldn’t grasp being equal with God. Now here’s Philippians 2:6 as faithfully quoted from the King James Bible…

“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God.” (King James Bible)

Need I say more? On pg. 846 of THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, Ray Comfort states concerning different versions of the Bible…

“each translation is based on the original biblical texts”

Source: THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, by Ray Comfort, pg. 846; 2003, Bridge-Logos Publishers, Orlando, Florida

There’s a big problem with what Ray Comfort is NOT telling you, i.e., there are conflicting debates over which ancient manuscripts are the originals. You see, the battle isn’t just over which English version is God’s Word, there’s also a raging battle over which Greek version is God’s Word. It’s a mess, just the way Satan planned it; but God has made a way for anyone who desires to find the Truth. All modern bibles have their origin in the corrupted Sinaiticus manuscripts from Alexandria, Egypt (which is what unsaved heretics Westcott and Hort based their work upon… and the Jehovah’s Witness). In sharp contrast, our precious King James Bible is based upon the Textus Receptus Greek from Antioch, Rome. That’s just a brief summarization of the Bible controversy.

Ray Comfort sidesteps the issue over which version of the Bible is correct by simply stating that they’re all based on “original manuscripts.” That is simply NOT true! All modern versions are based upon fraudulent manuscripts which God did not Author. The 1611 King James Bible holds true to the original manuscripts!!!

If you want a Bible translated by homosexuals, who have removed the word “sodomite” entirely, then you want the New International PerVersion. Sadly, and tragically, this is the most popular bible in America today. Woe unto America!

Anyone with a thinking mind and a love for the Lord Jesus Christ can immediately see that all modern bibles have been corrupted. And it’s all the key Scriptures concerning the Godhead, Christ’s deity and other critical fundamental doctrines that have been tampered with, such as Christ’s deity in Philippians 2:6 (which we just read).
Ray Comfort Attacks Soulwinners and the Simplicity of the Gospel

On page 1338 of THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, in the section titled, “How To Get False Converts,” Ray Comfort states…

“Too many of our ‘decisions’ are not a work of the Spirit, but a work of our sincere but manipulative practices. It is simple to secure a decision for Jesus by using this popular method: ‘Do you know whether you are going to heaven when you die? God wants you to have that assurance. All you need to do is: 1) Realize that you are a sinner (All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God’), and 2) believe that Jesus died on the cross for you. Would you like me to pray with you right now so that you can give your heart to Jesus? Then you will have the assurance that you are going to heaven when you die.”

Source: THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, by Ray Comfort, pg. 1338; 2003, Bridge-Logos Publishers, Orlando, Florida

Like it or not Mr. Comfort, anyone who comes as a guilty sinner, realizing their condemnation under God’s Holy Law, and believes on Jesus Christ will be saved, whether they intend on forsaking their sins or not. Eternal life is a free gift.

I agree wholeheartedly with Ray Comfort that the Law is absolutely essential in salvation, for without the guilt of sin why would one needs a Savior (Romans 3:19)? However, to mandate that sinners must REPENT of their sins in the sense of literally forsaking them is works salvation. Forsaking one’s sins is the result, i.e., the fruit, of genuine repentance; and not a part of saving-faith.

I heard Natalie Grant, a Christian Rocker, during a recent radio interview say: “I prayed the salvation prayer when I was 6-years old.” I have no doubt that she is as lost as can be, and I think this is what Ray Comfort is trying to address; BUT, he is doing it the wrong way, and is perverting the Gospel message in an attempt to force people to forsake their sins. Corrupting the simplicity of the Gospel is not the answer. The answer is to preach the simplicity that is in Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to do His work. False conversions are inevitable, because there will always be fakes and phonies.

It bothers me that Ray Comfort refers to the simplicity of the Gospel as “manipulative practices.” On page 1233, under the section titled, “False Converts,” Mr. Comfort further states…

“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name have done many wonderful works? And then will I profess to them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity (Matthew 7:21-23). This is why we must forsake traditional quick-fix evangelism…”

Here he goes again, now calling the simplicity that is in Christ, “quick-fix evangelism.” This is as bad as David Cloud referring to Pastor Jack Hyles as “The king of shallow soulwinning.” Shame on Ray Comfort, David Cloud, John MacArthur and others who make salvation hard! My ministry wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the Christian influence of Dr. Jack Hyles upon my life, who was teaching folks to go soulwinning before Ray Comfort was even born. Like it or not, the Bible teaches Easy-Believism!  You Need HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS!

Please read, Dr. Curtis Hutson is 100% Correct on Repentance!
Ray Comfort Avoids the Subject of Eternal Security

Not surprisingly, Ray Comfort avoids the subject of Eternal Security entirely in his “evidence bible.”

On page 1484 of THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, Ray Comfort asks the question… “Does someone go to hell for committing suicide?”  His answer is… It would be wise to follow the Biblical example and not come to any verdict in the case of suicide. This clearly implies that a believer who commits suicide may be in danger of going to Hell. The fact that THE EVIDENCE BIBLE fails to address the issue of the believer’s eternal security is utterly disturbing, and is a clear warning that Ray Comfort is unsure of his beliefs (or is hiding them).

A believer who commits suicide DOES go to Heaven, guaranteed! Why? … Because they died in the Lord (Revelation 14:13).  Mr. Comfort doesn’t feel strongly enough about eternal security to make it part of his statement of faith. A correctly understood gospel—salvation by grace alone through faith alone on the basis of Christ’s finished work alone—mandates eternal security. On the other hand, if one is trusting in one’s works or a “commitment” to perform works or to live a certain way to be saved, then salvation cannot be assured, and the doctrine of eternal security is either negotiable or is denied.

It is noteworthy to mention that John MacArthur, who errantly teaches that salvation CAN BE lost, is quoted numerous times by Ray Comfort in THE EVIDENCE BIBLE. On his website, Kirk Cameron also promotes MacArthur’s Study Bible.

Salvation CANNOT be lost, even if a believer commits deliberate murder (as king David did in the Bible). The Word of God teaches ONCE SAVED, ALWAYS SAVED. To say otherwise is to deny the gift of God. Although Ray Comfort is wishy-washy concerning the subject of the eternal security of the believer; the Bible is not… salvation is of God; not mankind. Salvation is receiving; not giving. The only sin which a person needs to literally forsake to be saved is UNBELIEF. Salvation is not obtained by good works; and cannot be lost be bad works. Salvation is of God alone.
Ray Comfort Fails to Clearly Define What it Means to “Repent”

Something became evident to me rather quickly while reading THE EVIDENCE BIBLE. Now I’ve been saved for 28 years, so I am able to see through Mr. Comfort’s teachings and Biblically analyze them. However, what about someone who does not know the Lord at all, an unbeliever? What impression would they get from reading Mr. Comfort’s book? There are 2 major things that THE EVIDENCE BIBLE would embed into a person’s brain very quickly:

  1. A person needs to repent to get to Heaven. (which is true)
  2. Repentance means to stop living in sin. (which is NOT true)

Ray Comfort never defines what it means to Biblically “repent,” he just keeps saying that a person must “forsake their sins” to be saved.  Mr. Comfort quotes Charles Spurgeon in hundreds of places. In fact, he quotes Spurgeon more than anyone else in THE EVIDENCE BIBLE. Yet it was Spurgeon himself who shot down the heresy that forsaking one’s sins is a requirement to be saved (as quoted earlier)…

Since Ray Comfort never actually tells anyone what it means to “repent,” it leaves the reader in a mental state of ambiguity. It appears to me that Ray Comfort is uncertain of what it means to Biblically repent and is thus hiding behind the theological position of Charles Surgeon. The problem is that Comfort doesn’t understand Spurgeon either, as evidenced by the preceding quote.

Throughout THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, Comfort gives the impression that works are necessary for salvation. For example, on pg. 1377 he comments on John 14:15 (“If ye love me keep My commandments”). Mr. Comfort states:

“We show our love for God by our obedience. If we do not obey, we do not truly love Him (see vv. 23,24). There are many who call Him ‘Lord, Lord,’ but do not do what He says. Matthew 7:21-23 tells us their fearful state.”

Source: THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, by Ray Comfort, pg. 1377; 2003, Bridge-Logos Publishers, Orlando, Florida

Do you see the subtlety by which Ray Comfort just perverted the Gospel? Both statements are true, but when you link them together it creates a heresy. It is true that a believer who loves the Lord will obey His commandments. However, what does this have to do with the unsaved false prophets in Matthew 7:21-23 who were cast into the Lake of Fire? Clearly, Ray Comfort is teaching that professed believers who fail to forsake their sins are going to Hell.

If professed believers who indulge in sin go to Hell, then why does 2nd Corinthians 5:10 teach that BELIEVERS will one day give account to God for the good and bad they do? …

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

This is an entirely different judgment than the judgment of the false prophets in Matthew 7:21-23. 2nd Corinthians 5:10 speaks of The Judgment Seat Of Christ for all believers (1st Corinthians 3:13-15); whereas Matthew 7:21-23 speaks of The Great White Throne of Judgment for all unbelievers (Revelation 20:11-15). Ray Comfort is wrong to teach on pg. 1377 that those who fail to express their love for God through obedience are going to Hell. This is what Comfort teaches.

Again, the big problem is that Ray Comfort DOESN’T tell anyone what it means to “repent.” To say that one must “forsake their sins” to be saved is ambiguous. What does Comfort mean?  Does he mean literally ceasing from one’s sinful lifestyle in order to be saved? Or does he simply mean to acknowledge one’s guilt of violating God’s Law? By Mr. Comfort’s silence on the matter, and his continual insistence that people must “forsake their sins” to be saved, it can only be concluded that he is teaching the heresy of Lordship Salvation.

From many of Comfort’s own teaching in THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, which I have shared with you, I think it is abundantly clear that he is a false prophet who teaches Lordship Salvation. Read what Harry Ironside said about surrendering to Christ for salvation…

“When anyone comes promising salvation to those ‘who make full surrender’ of all that they have to God, and who ‘pay the price of full salvation’ he is preaching another gospel, for the price was paid on Calvary’s cross and the work that saves is finished. It was Christ Jesus who made the full surrender when He yielded His life on Calvary that saves us, not our surrender in any way to Him.”

SOURCE: Harry A. Ironside, from the Gospel tract, Another Gospel.

It’s ironic that false prophets today like Ray Comfort and John MacArthur, who claim that modern theology has displaced repentance, have themselves done so by corrupting the Biblical meaning of what it means to “repent.”  Here is what Dr. Ironside correctly says about repentance…

“Repentance is the recognition of my sinnership — the owning before God that I am as vile as He has declared me to be in His holy Word.”

SOURCE: Except Ye Repent, by Dr. Harry Ironside, chapter 3

This is very different than “forsaking one’s sins” to be saved as Mr. Comfort teaches. Biblical repentance is simply “a change of mind.” The changed life comes later as a FRUIT of genuine repentance. The Law cannot chase us any further than the cross of Calvary. Any sinner who acknowledges that they’ve woefully violated God’s holy Law and by faith BELIEVES on Jesus Christ to be forgiven of sins will be… “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13). I couldn’t agree more with Ray Comfort concerning the necessity of God’s Law in salvation; but ceasing from one’s sins in NOT a prerequisite to be saved.
Conclusion

I like Ray Comfort and don’t enjoy critiquing his teachings; but I must because the Devil has crept into many churches through the teaching of Lordship Salvation, i.e., the false doctrine that a person must literally forsake their sin to be saved. Biblical repentance is turning to Jesus Christ to be saved from one’s sins; not turning from one’s sins as a prerequisite to be saved. There is a fine line between faith and foolishness. It is not merely a matter of semantics.

The bottom line is that we ought to obey God rather than man and the Word of God speaks clear on this matter… “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Romans 4:5). No amount of desire to continue living in sin can keep a sinner from being saved, if that person sincerely realizes their guilt before God (Romans 3:19) and comes to the Redeeming Savior, Jesus Christ, to be forgiven (Acts 10:43). Interestingly, Ray Comfort fails to comment at all on Romans 4:5 in THE EVIDENCE BIBLE. I think this speaks volumes concerning his beliefs. Romans 4:5 is one of the most important Scriptures in God’s Word, because It plainly “evidences” that salvation is without works of doing penance or ceasing from one’s sins. Salvation is not difficult. Forsaking one’s sins is the FRUIT of genuine repentance; and not a part of saving faith itself. Ray comfort teaches the exact opposite.

Lordship Salvation is of the Devil. You don’t make Jesus Lord; He is Lord! Living a consecrated life for God is the fruit of genuine repentance; and not a prerequisite to be saved. Ray Comfort is deceived along with the rotten John MacArthur camp.

THE EVIDENCE BIBLE shows clear evidence that Ray Comfort is extremely ecumenical, hobnobbing with heretics like Billy Graham (which is apostasy) and is defiant against the simplicity that is in Christ. Interestingly, Ray Comfort fails to comment at all on 2nd Corinthians 6:14, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers…” Billy Graham is an unbeliever, who has publicly stated that he believes Pope John Paul II is in Heaven. This is the camp that Ray Comfort associates with and writes for. Need I say more?

The issue is not about Ray Comfort nor Kirk Cameron; but rather, the corrupt Bibles, corrupt religious teachers, corrupt plans of salvation, corrupt organizations, corrupt televangelists, corrupt Contemporary Christian Music [CCM] singers… as with most religious people today, kindly but truthfully said, Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron are CORRUPTED!

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies…” —2nd Peter 2:1

John MacArthur, Paul Washer and Ray Comfort… Making Salvation Impossible!

By David J. Stewart

1st Corinthians 3:13-15, “Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”

“Lordship Salvation” is a false gospel which teaches that a sinner cannot be saved by simply placing one’s faith in Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. According to the proponents of Lordship Salvation, a person must try really hard to stop sinning in order to be saved. They must decide to stop living in sin. They must surrender their will totally to God. They must commit their life to Christ. They must have a desire to reform or else they cannot be saved. This not only makes salvation hard, but impossible, because no one can be saved through human effort plus partial faith in Christ.

In sharp contrast, the Word of God does not teach that salvation is difficult and hard to obtain. Lordship Salvation is nothing more than repackaged Calvinism and is a lie of the Devil. Read for yourself some of the unbiblical teachings from some of today’s most popular false prophets in America’s churches…

John MacArthur’s False Plan of Salvation

Pastor John MacArthur of the Grace Community Church has authored a heretical book titled, “HARD TO BELIEVE” in which he errantly teaches…

“Salvation isn’t the result of an intellectual exercise. It comes from a life lived in obedience and service to Christ as revealed in the Scripture; it’s the fruit of actions, not intentions. There’s no room for passive spectators: words without actions are empty and futile…The life we live, not the words we speak, determines our eternal destiny(Hard to Believe, p. 93). [emphasis added]

Ladies and gentlemen, what you have just read is works salvation. Now in fairness to Dr. MacArthur, who is a gifted teacher (but bad Bible student), he has attributed the previous quote to a publishing error and has updated the quote. Here is the new updated quote…

Don’t believe anyone who says it’s easy to become a Christian. Salvation for sinners cost God His own Son; it cost God’s Son His life, and it’ll cost you the same thing. Salvation isn’t gained by reciting mere words. Saving faith transforms the heart, and that in turn transforms behavior. Faith’s fruit is seen in actions, not intentions. There’s no room for passive spectators: words without actions are empty and futile. Remember that what John saw in his vision of judgment was a Book of Life, not a book of Words or Book of Intellectual Musings. The life we live, not the words we speak, reveals whether our faith is authentic. [emphasis added]

SOURCE: Dr. John MacArthur, Grace To You, an updated quote from his book ‘Hard To Believe’, page 93.

At a glance, the preceding quote sounds impressive. It certainly seems proper to authenticate one’s profession of faith with a life of good works. It appeals to our sinful human nature to attempt to please God by our own self-righteousness. The true nature of MacArthur’s deadly teaching becomes more apparent when you only consider the first two lines of his quote…

“Don’t believe anyone who says it’s easy to become a Christian. Salvation for sinners cost God His own Son; it cost God’s Son His life, and it’ll cost you the same thing…”

Is that Biblical? No, it is not. MacArthur foolishly teaches that it is hard to become a Christian, because he says it will cost you your life of worldliness, sinful bad habits and selfish ambitions to make your faith valid. Clearly he does not believe that faith alone in Christ is enough to be saved. MacArthur deceitful says that mere words won’t save, which is true if they are insincere words; however, the thief on the cross was saved immediately when he spoke the words, “Remember me” to Jesus (Luke 23:42). We are saved solely by faith in Christ, which may or may not be expressed by words. Words are not required to be saved. We are saved the moment we believe in our heart that Jesus is the Christ Who died FOR OUR SINS on the cross and rose (1st Corinthians 15:1-4).

The Devil is so subtle. False prophets know that adding works to salvation is blatant heresy, a lie. So what they do is instead say that you’re saved by grace through faith, but your faith is not valid unless there are works to make that faith credible (or to authenticate it). This is a backdoor approach to a works-based salvation.

The following excellent information refuting Lordship Salvation is by Dr. Ray Stanford (1916-2012), from his classic book, “Handbook of Personal Evangelism”…

Just as you receive the Saviour by faith and He becomes YOUR Saviour, when you allow Christ to control your life, He becomes YOUR LORD. There is an increasing number of “evangelicals” today who are preaching that in order for a man to be saved he must not only receive Christ as his Saviour, but also must make Him absolute Lord and Master of his life.

This doctrine has been termed “Lordship salvation” and has absolutely no support from the Word of God. It is, in fact, another subtle way Satan has invented to get Bible-believing men to add works to salvation without, perhaps, their realizing it, and to do it in such a way that it sounds spiritual and good.

What could SOUND more spiritual or honoring to the Lord than statements like: “Either Christ is Lord of all, or He is not Lord at all. And if He is not Lord then He is not your Saviour. You are lost. You must turn over all the strings of your life to Him-then He will save you. Give your life to Him if you want to be truly saved.” This is what is taught.

The truth of the matter is that salvation is not a “give” proposition at all; it is a “take” proposition. We don’t give our hearts, lives, wills, or anything else to God in order to get Him to save us. This would be a form of bribery, a way of meriting or deserving to be saved-but God says salvation is “NOT OF OURSELVES”-and especially, it is not offering anything to God.

Salvation is receiving! We simply receive His Son. John 1:12 says, “But as many as RECEIVED Him, to them gave He power (the right) to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name.” God does the giving. We do the receiving.

Amen and amen!

Kindly, MacArthur is spiritually dangerous, because he hides heresies between doctrinal truths, which are the hardest to expose. My friend, it is very easy to be saved, so easy in fact that 3,000 people got saved in one day in Acts 2:41. You don’t have to give your life (as Christ gave His life) to be saved! If it were true, then salvation would be the result of partial faith in Christ plus human effort. To lay such a heavy burden upon a sinner’s shoulder, requiring them to validate their faith by the way in which they live, is to make salvation HARD, VERY, HARD; but Jesus said, “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:30). If you always keep in mind that eternal life is a free gift, paid for by Jesus’ precious blood (1st Peter 1:18-19), then you won’t be misled.
Ray Comfort’s and Paul Washer’s False Plan of Salvation

On page 1233 of THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, under the section titled, “False Converts,” Evangelist Ray Comfort errantly teaches…

Source: THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, by Ray Comfort, pg. 1233; 2003, Bridge-Logos Publishers, Orlando, Florida

Ray Comfort does “err, not knowing the scriptures” (Matthew 22:29) concerning Matthew 7:22-23. Mr. Comfort would errantly lead us to believe that the religious group in Matthew 7:22-23 were not saved because of “quick fix” evangelism, but that is not the truth at all. In fact, the “quick fix” of trusting Jesus Christ is exactly what they needed. If you know that you’re a sinner and trust upon the name of Jesus, believing that He is the Christ (Who died, was buried and rose again), then you are saved my friend (Acts 10:43; John 20:31; Galatians 3:26).

Paul Washer errantly teaches…

“But if you profess to have gone through the narrow gate, and yet you live in the broad way … just like all the other people who are carnal and wicked … the Bible wants you to know that you should be terribly, terribly afraid — you know not God.” (time: 24:37 in video)

SOURCE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuabITeO4l8

God hates the false teachings of Paul Washer (but He loves Paul Washer)! Biblical salvation is based upon the love, mercy and grace of God (1st John 3:16) and not upon one’s willingness to depart from sin. What Paul Washer is teaching is evil to the core. Paul Washer is heard around the world by millions of people, many of whom live in constant fear because of Washer’s teachings. You just read it for yourself…

“the Bible wants you to know that you should be terribly, terribly afraid — you know not God.”

Paul Washer’s gospel is arbitrary, conditional, uncertain… but I ask, “How much sin means that a person who trusts Christ is not really saved?” Comfort, Washer and MacArthur are all Calvinists. Ray Comfort doesn’t believe that God loves sinners. That’s the same garbage theology that John Calvin, Fred Phelps and John MacArthur teach. Yes, Fred Phelps, the “God Hates Homos” hateful preacher from Kansas who’s all over the news is a Calvinist!!! I tell you, Calvinism is of the Devil. And so is Arminianism. Jesus commanded for us to SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES (John 5:39); not read the writings of flawed men such as John Calvin and Jacob Arminius. Neither man was doctrinally correct in all their teachings. The Word of God is our ONLY authority!

John MacArthur, Kirk Cameron, Ray Comfort and Paul Washer all teach garbage theology concerning salvation!!! They all have a horrible misunderstanding concerning Biblical repentance, adhering to the Roman Catholic meaning instead of what the Bible teaches.

So what does the Bible teach concerning sinful Christians who disobey the Lord? The Bible tells us the answer in 2nd Corinthians 5:9-11…

2nd Corinthians 5:9-11, “Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.”

The Bible says in Revelation 14:13, “And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” The Bible speaks of resting from our LABORS. Are you laboring for Christ? The Apostle Paul said in 2nd Corinthians 5:9 that he labored for the Lord that he might be ACCEPTED OF HIM on judgment Day. 2nd Corinthians 5:11 mentions the “TERROR OF THE LORD” for those believers who are disobedient and waste their life, talents, gifts, and resources, never doing anything to serve Christ here on earth.

One of the great dangers of our time is the New York Times Bestseller List, which promotes the apostate theological garbage of Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Rick Warren and Max Lucado. Tragically, Satan has used this deception to inoculate America’s churches from the truth. Instead of searching the Scriptures as the Lord commanded, people are looking to these apostate authors to lead them. You’ll be hard pressed to attend a church service these days where the pastor doesn’t quote, promote and compliment these yardbirds. These men are apostates, leading America’s churches into World Religion via the ecumenical movement (the uniting of religious denominations by sinful compromise). We ought to divide over truth rather than unite by error. The ecumenical movement is of the Devil. Certainly, beware of the books by John MacArthur, Ray Comfort and Paul Washer.

Max Lucado publicly promotes open borders, illegal immigration and receiving them into America as welcomed guests. No wonder the criminal globalists put him on the New York Times Bestseller List. You don’t get on such a list unless you kiss-up to the New World Order. They’ve sold their souls! The enemy has come into America like a flood!

It is Easy to Be Saved

The Bible teaches that salvation is simple. Salvation is as simple as taking a drink of water (John 4:14). Salvation is as simple as receiving a gift (Romans 6:23). Salvation is as simple as going through a door (John 10:9). Salvation is simple!

Who are you going to believe… John MacArthur who says it’s hard to believe, or the Bible that speaks of the simplicity which is in Christ in 2nd Corinthians 11:3-4?

Who are you going to believe… Ray Comfort who says that “quick fix evangelism” cannot save anybody, or the Bible that teaches in Romans 10:13 that God will save whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord?

Who are you going to believe… Paul Washer who says that you should live in fear of going to Hell if there are sins in your life as a Christian, or are you going to believe the Lord who promised in John 6:37 that He would never turn away those who come unto Him?

Salvation is not conditional upon the way we live. False prophets MacArthur, Washer and Comfort all teach that salvation is conditional upon one’s departure from a lifestyle of sin, or else they teach that your faith is not valid unless there are works attached to it. Either way, they teach that salvation is not easy to obtain, because you cannot have it and continue living in deliberate sin. It is so hypocritical what they teach, based in self-righteous arrogance, because no one can turn away from deliberate sinning. Even the best Christians still deliberately sin on a daily basis, whether in deed, word or thought. Eternal life is a free gift, period!

Salvation is simple, easy, not hard, and freely offered by God to anyone who wants it. You just receive it. If you admit that you are a guilty sinner in the eyes of a holy God for breaking His commandments (Romans 3:19), and have received Christ’s death on the cross, His burial and resurrection as full payment for your sins (1st Corinthians 15:1-4), then you are eternally saved my friend (Romans 10:13). The only thing you have to repent of to be saved, is whatever is hindering you from believing on the Lord to be saved. John 6:28-29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”

Salvation by works is not only hard, but impossible. Satan is a professional liar and deceiver. Satan knows that the best place to hide a lie is between two truths. This is why we hear false prophets starting off their false plan of salvation by saying that eternal life is a free gift, which is true. Then they teach the truth of the Gospel that Christ died for our sins on the cross, was buried and raised up three days later. So far it’s all true, and this is how they deceive people, because the half-truth in part can be defended with incontestable logic. But then they corrupt the plan of salvation, by inserting the lie that to be saved a person must surrender all to Christ as Lord, commit their life to live for Him, turn away from a lifestyle of sin, forsake the world and follow Jesus. Do you see how Satan cleverly wraps a lie with truth to hide it?

This is also how Satan is deceiving the churches with corrupt Bible versions. By using God’s Word, we must separate the lies from the truth and address them as such. Satan mixes his lies with the truth to create confusion and deceive the masses. This is why most religious people are going to sadly spend eternity burning in the fires of Hell (Matthew 7:21-23; Luke 13:23-24; Matthew 7:13-14). Satan’s greatest weapon is to con people into living the Christian life without ever being born-again. It is easy to be saved, simply believe and the work is done (John 6:28-29).

Revelation 22:17, “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”

BEWARE of The MacArthur Study Bible!

By David J. Stewart

I recently took a close look inside the “Revised and Updated” edition of THE MACARTHUR STUDY BIBLE [1997] by Thomas Nelson publishers.  Honestly, don’t waste your money, because it’s filled with heresy and really bad theology.

First of all, Thomas Nelson owns the copyright to the New King James Version (hereafter called NKJV).  So it’s not surprising that Thomas Nelson publishers are also publishing MacArthur’s garbage.  Yes, I said garbage, because that’s what it is.  I am not trying to be unkind, but honest.  I am warning you about this Modernist who dares to claim the name of Christ, while denying the redeeming power of the literal blood of Jesus Christ.  Satan is subtle and if we’re not careful, he’ll deceive us through false prophets like Dr. John F. MacArthur.

Ironically, the insert to MacArthur’s Study Bible reads: “GOD’S TRUTH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD.”  I couldn’t agree more, which is why I am exposing Nelson Publishers and John MacArthur as heretics who have corrupted the very Words of God, and perverted the meaning of the Scriptures.

Please don’t misunderstand me, there are many wonderful teachings in The MacArthur Study Bible, just as the Jehovah’s Witnesses also teach many wonderful things in their literature; but John MacArthur, like the Jehovah’s Witnesses, teaches damnable heresies as well.  As is customary with Satan, we find a small amount of lies embodied within the truth, which is no truth at all.  If Mr. MacArthur is wrong on salvation and the blood of Christ, which he certainly is, then he’s wrong about everything else too.

The Damnable New King James Version

MacArthur’s Study Bible is based upon the perverted NKJV.  The NKJV is just as rotten and corrupt as the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible.  The NKJV has most of the same corruptions as does the NIV in comparison to the trustworthy 1611 King James Bible (KJB).  The NKJV is based upon the same heretical work of Westcott and Hort as are all other modern perversions of God’s Word.  The NKJV is dangerous, because it perverts the Word of God.  For example: The NKJV publishers changed narrow is the way” in Matthew 7:14 to difficult is the way.”  There is nothing “difficult” about the salvation offered to us through Jesus Christ!  Jesus said in Matthew 11:30, “For my yoke is EASY, and my burden is light.”  Jesus stated THE EXACT OPPOSITE of what the NKJV claims.  Boy, you talk about a contradiction!  Salvation is not difficult.  Anyone can be saved simply by coming to Jesus Christ as a guilty sinner, believing on Him to wash away our sins by His own precious blood (1st Peter 1:18,19).

So the first, and biggest flaw, of MacArthur’s Revised and Updated Study Bible is that he is basing his work upon a corrupted version of the Scriptures.  Perverted bibles consequently lead to perverted doctrines.  This is why so many false doctrines have crept into the New Testament Church today.

Interestingly, MacArthur never addresses the issue of corrupt bibles in his “Study Bible.”  How is it that a longtime pastor and Bible-teacher, who has exposed many religious cults, is blind to the reality of corrupt bibles which are corrupting today’s churches.  As I’ve gone through MacArthur’s Revised and Updated “Study Bible,” I’ve purposely read his comments on Scriptures which have been corrupted in the NKJV, which his study is built upon.  This is important.  For example: In 2nd Corinthians 2:17 in the KJB states, “For we not as many which CORRUPT the word of God.  The NKJV changes it to “For we are not, as so many, PEDDLING the word of God” (ditto NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV).  Here’s MacArthur’s commentary on the word “peddling” in 2nd Corinthians 2:17 (on page 1766 of his Revised and Updated “Study Bible”):

“From a Gr. verb that means “to corrupt,” this word came to refer to corrupt hucksters, or con men who by their cleverness and deception were able to sell as genuine an inferior product that was only a cheap imitation. The false teachers in the church were coming with cleaver, deceptive rhetoric to offer a degraded, adulterated message that mixed paganism and Jewish tradition.  They were dishonest men seeking personal profit and prestige at the expense of gospel truth and people’s souls.

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers,  page 752

MacArthur’s commentary, as does the perverted word “peddling” in the NKJV, steers the reader’s mind away from the reality that there are CORRUPT bibles on the market today.  The phrase, “peddling the Word of God” only casts a negative reflection upon those who are greedy and have something to sell.  The actual Greek meaning of this word (kapeleuo) is “corrupt” and it was very dishonest for Nelson Publishers to change this word.  The word “peddling” is an incomplete definition of the Greek word.  The full meaning is a person who adulterates and corrupts the word of God to make a profit.  The word “peddling” does NOT convey the Greek meaning of this word.  MacArthur is dishonest to go along with this perversion of the Scriptures.  2nd Corinthians 2:17 isn’t just condemning those who peddle the Word of God; but rather, those who corrupt the Word of God and then peddle it to make money.

Unbelievably, MacArthur’s commentary on 2nd Corinthians 2:17 condemns Thomas Nelson publishers and all the other Bible-corrupters today; YET, he won’t address the issue because he is compromised.  MacArthur has enough spiritual insight to expose false religions (such as Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons); but then he fails to expose false bibles. This is a major flaw in MacArthur’s “Study Bible.”  People need to be warned about the onslaught of corrupt bibles on the market today.  Sadly, MacArthur is as blinded as a blind man.  Do yourself an eternal favor and only use the King James Bible

MacArthur Deliberately Avoids Interpreting Psalm 12:7

Psalm 12:6-8 in the KJB reads, “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.”  Psalm 12:7 is God’s promise that He will PRESERVE His Words in every generation.  That means that somewhere on the earth today we have God’s preserved Words.  I believe God’s Words have been faithfully preserved in the precious King James Bible.  Here’s the commentary which John MacArthur provides in his Revised and Updated “Study Bible” on page 752 for Psalm 12:7-8:

“The hostile realities of v. 8 call for the heavenly resources of v. 7”

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers,  page 752

That’s it?  That’s all you’ve got to say Mr. MacArthur concerning God’s promise to preserve His Words?  MacArthur completely avoids the issue of preservation of the Word of God, because he us using a perverted Bible himself to mislead the masses.  There’s no money to be made today selling the increasingly unpopular King James Bible in our apostate society.  Nelson Publisher’s is pulling on the same rope as the Devil.  Please read, The King James Version Hasn’t Changed.
MacArthur Denies the Redemptive Power of Jesus’ Literal Physical Blood

The April 1986 edition of Faith For The Family quotes MacArthur as saying in a 1976 article entitled, “Not His Bleeding But His Dying”:

“It was His death that was efficacious . . . not His blood . . . Christ did not bleed to death. The shedding of blood had nothing to do with bleeding . . . it simply means death . . . Nothing in His human blood saves . . . It is not His blood that I love . . . it is Him. It is not His bleeding that saved me, but His dying.”

Mr. MacArthur is a heretic who states:

It is not the actual liquid that cleanses us from our sins, but the work of redemption Christ accomplished in pouring it out.” -Dr. John MacArthur

SOURCE: http://www.spurgeon.org/~phil/articles/blood.htm

In MacArthur’s Revised and Updated “Study Bible,” he avoids Exodus 12:13 like the Bubonic Plague… “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt” (KJB).  MacArthur doesn’t comment directly concerning this verse.  It baffles me as to why any professed Gospel preacher would make light of the literal blood of Jesus Christ.  MacArthur has nothing good to say about Jesus’ physical blood, because he doesn’t think it has any value in and of itself.  What good is a “Study Bible” that ignores the most important doctrine in the entire Bible?  1st Peter 1:18,19 tells us just how important the blood of Jesus is: “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”
MacArthur’s Deceitful, Confusing and Misleading Philosophies on the Blood of Christ

Deceitfully, in MacArthur’s Revised and Updated Study Bible, he comments concerning 1st Peter 1:18,19 on page 1941:

“The price paid to a holy God was the shed blood of His own Son.”

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers,  page 1941

Yet, to show you how deceitful MacArthur is, take a look at his comments concerning Hebrews 9:22 (i.e., “without shedding of blood there is no remission“) on page 1912 of his Revised and Updated Study Bible:

“Shedding of blood” refers to death.”

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers, page 1912

Wow!  What a deceiver!  If God meant “death,” then He would have said “death” Mr. MacArthur; BUT He didn’t, He said “shedding of blood.”

Christ’s virgin birth, sinless life, death, burial and bodily resurrection all led up to the application of His precious blood to the mercy seat in Heaven.  MacArthur denies this vehemently.  Take at look at what MacArthur comments on page 1910 of his Revised and Updated Study Bible concerning Hebrews 9:12 (i.e., “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us“):

“A better translation would be “through His own blood.” … Nothing is said which would indicate that Christ carried His actual physical blood with Him into the heavenly sanctuary.”

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers, page 1910

On the contrary, the KJB states, “Moreover he [Moses] sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry … For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us” (Hebrews 9:21,24).  If you’ll take the time to carefully read the entire chapter of Hebrews 9, you’ll find the word “blood” mentioned 12 times.  You’ll also learn that the Old Testament tabernacle was a “figure” of the true Tabernacle in Heaven.  Just as the Old Testament high priest was required to bring the lamb’s literal physical shed BLOOD into the holy place and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, so did Jesus Christ enter into the heavenly holy place with His own blood and sprinkle it on the Mercy Seat.  MacArthur is very wrong!

Hebrews 9:12 in the KJB states, “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”  MacArthur claims that the phrase “by his own blood” should have been translated “through his own blood”; however, then this means that we would also need to change the phrase “by the blood of goats and calves” to “through the blood of goats and calves.”  So then why did God require the blood of animals UPON THE MERCY SEAT in the Old Testament?  Leviticus 17:11 reads, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”  Perhaps Mr. MacArthur needs some better reading glasses.

Here are MacArthur’s comments for Leviticus 17:11, i.e., the phrase “the life of the flesh is in the blood”:

“…the shedding of blood represents the shedding of life, i.e., death … NT references to the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ are references to His death.”

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers, page 178

There is NO such teaching in the Scriptures!  John MacArthur has fabricated his own corrupt way of thinking.  Hebrews 9:6-7 state: “Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. But into the second [i.e., the holy of holies] went the high priest alone once every year, NOT WITHOUT BLOOD, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people.”  How can Mr. MacArthur be so naive and unbiblical as to claim that Jesus’ literal physical blood didn’t need to be applied to the Mercy Seat in Heaven, in consideration of such overwhelming Scriptural evidence?

MacArthur really gets confusing in his commentary of Hebrews 9:7 on page 1910, the phrase “not without blood”:

“…the shedding of blood in and of itself is an insufficient sacrifice. Christ had not only to shed His blood, but to die … Without His death, his blood had no saving value.”

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers, page 1910

While it is true that Jesus’ death was absolutely essential to His work of redemption, MacArthur attempts to use this fact in this Scripture as a means of completely disregarding the efficacy (power) of the literal physical blood of Jesus.  Hebrews 9:7 isn’t talking about the “death” of the sacrificed animal, it is talking about the “blood” of the sacrificed animal.  The truth is that Jesus’ virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious death, burial and bodily resurrection were all EQUALLY as important as the blood sacrifice itself; but all those things led up to the blood being applied to the Mercy Seat in the heavenly Holy Place.  To deny this is to deny the entire Old Testament, all the types, all the blood sacrifices, and the FACT that God would have killed any highpriest who dared enter into the holy of holies WITHOUT BLOOD.

John MacArthur’s entire “Study Bible” maliciously, but subtly, attacks the precious blood of Jesus Christ.  Again 1st Peter 1:18,19 states: “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ”  Now how can Jesus’ blood be PRECIOUS if it is only representative of His death?  MacArthur continually badmouths the literal blood of Jesus Christ, while simultaneously claiming that he views it as precious of something else it represents.  That makes no sense at all.  The blood of Jesus is “precious” to the genuine born-again believer because it is LITERAL, having literal redemptive power to wash our sins away just as 1st John 1:7 proclaims!  To no surprise, on page 1964 of MacArthur’s Revised and Updated “Study Bible,” in his comments concerning 1st John 1:7, he doesn’t even address the blood of Jesus.  How could any preacher completely avoid such a precious Scripture which teaches that Jesus’ blood washes our sins away?

Now I can understand how LIQUID BLOOD can wash one’s sins away, but how does DEATH do so?  God says that Jesus’ blood cleanses and washes our sins away (1st John 1:7).  We read in Revelation 7:14, “And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”  How does someone like MacArthur just keep explaining all these Scriptures away?  What a false prophet!  MacArthur is of the Devil.  How does a saint wash his robe with death?  It makes no sense Mr. MacArthur.  Ah, but if you believe the Word of God, i.e., that Jesus’ literal blood washes our sins away, then Revelation 7:14 makes perfect sense.

MacArthur Perverts the Meaning of Acts 3:38 and Romans 10:9 to Teach Lordship Salvation

Acts 2:38 in the KJB reads: “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”  Concerning the word “repent,” MacArthur states on page 1637 of his Revised and Updated “Study Bible”:

“Genuine repentance knows that the evil of sin must be forsaken and the person and work of Christ totally and singularly embraced.”

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers, page 1637

MacArthur makes salvation difficult.  Does a person have to totally embrace the work of Christ to be saved?  Romans 12:1 puts MacArthur to shame and exposes him as a false prophet… “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service” (KJB).  It is obvious that these believers in Rome weren’t totally committed to Christ.  Yet, they were Christians (Romans 1:7).  According to John MacArthur, genuine repentance requires a person to commit their life “totally and singularly” to Christ in order to be saved.  In sharp contrast, the Bible says that eternal life is a “free gift” (Romans 5:15).  Although MacArthur is quick to agree with this, he hypocritically complicates the plan of salvation by adding requirements to it.  All God requires is faith (Genesis 15:6; Romans 4:5).

Consider the carnal church of Corinth.  The Apostle Paul states in 1st Corinthians 3:1, “And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.”  Carefully read through 1st Corinthians and you’ll be surprised just HOW BAD these believers were.  They were suing each other (6:6).  They were coming to the Lord’s Supper drunk (11:21).  They were divided amongst each other in quarrels (1:12).  Fornication was openly allowed in the church (5:1).  They even ate meats offered to idols (8:4).  According to the Lordship Salvation crowd, there’s no way these rascals could be saved; but the Apostle Paul called them BABES IN CHRIST

We read in Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (KJB).  MacArthur perverts the meaning of this Scripture on page 1712 of his Revised and Updated “Study Bible” when he states concerning the phrase, “confess…the Lord Jesus”:

“This is the deep personal conviction, without reservation, that Jesus is that person’s own master or sovereign. This phrase includes repenting from sin, trusting in Jesus for salvation, and submitting to Him as Lord.”

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers, page 1637

MacArthur certainly makes salvation difficult, just as the NKJV says in Matthew 7:14.  However, the faithful King James Bible doesn’t say “difficult” in Matthew 7:14, It says “narrow.”  Few people are willing to come to Jesus Christ for salvation, because they love their sins (John 3:20).  But it is only their unwillingness to come to Jesus that prevents them from getting saved, not that they are required to give up their sins to be saved.  Jesus plainly stated in John 5:40… “And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.”  Notice that Jesus didn’t say “ye cannot come.”  In John 6:37 we read, “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”

In sharp contrast to the heretical teachings of John MacArthur, the Word of God teaches that any sinner may come to Jesus Christ for forgiveness and salvation, and Jesus won’t turn anyone away.  MacArthur ‘s commentary on Romans 10:9 requires a lost sinner to have a “deep personal conviction, without reservation, that Jesus is that person’s own master or sovereign.”  You’ve got to be kidding me?  John 3:16 puts Mr. MacArthur to shame, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  I don’t see anything about having a “deep personal conviction” in there, do you?  I don’t see anything about forsaking one’s sins to be saved, do you?  I don’t see anything about submitting to Jesus as Lord, do you?  What are you talking about Mr. MacArthur?

Romans 4:5 is so plain and simple that it is incontrovertible (i.e., it cannot be denied)… “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”  It almost appears as if a ghostwriter (i.e., another author) wrote the commentary for Romans 4:5 in MacArthur’s Revised and Updated “Study Bible,” because it is accurate for a change:

“If salvation were on the basis of one’s own effort, God would owe salvation as a debt—but salvation is always a sovereignly given gift of God’s grace (3:24; Eph, 2:8,9) to those who believe.”

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers, page 1699

The preceding commentary is 100% accurate, for a change.  It certainly appears that Mr. MacArthur doesn’t believe in Lordship Salvation, right?  Wrong!  Look what he says on page 1973 in his Revised and Updated “Study Bible” concerning 1st John 5:13, the phrase, “that you may know that you have eternal life“:

“The false brethren’s departure left John’s congregations shaken (2:19).  He assured those who remained that since they adhered to the fundamentals of the faith (a proper view of Christ, obedience, love), their salvation was sure.

Here MacArthur gives the impression through his comments that a believer’s salvation is dependent upon the life he lives.  Again on page 1439 of MacArthur’s Revised and Updated “Study Bible,” concerning Matthew 24:13, the phrase “endures to the end… be saved,” he states:

“To say that God secures our perseverance is not to say that we are passive in the process…”

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers, page 1439

Scripturally, a believer has absolutely nothing to do with keeping one’s salvation.  The term “perseverance” is a bad term when speaking of salvation, because a believer DOESN’T have to persevere in the faith to remain saved.  A person who has no faith in the Lord today, but claims to have once been a Christian, is a liar.  The second birth (i.e., being born again) is as irreversible as the first birth.  Many people adopt the philosophy of Christianity, but never actually repent, turning in belief to the Savior for forgiveness of sins.  The “Perseverance of the faithful” is a false doctrine, popularized by the heretic John Calvin (i.e., Calvinism).

Also, I wanted to mention to you that the NKJV perverts 1st John 5:13 by adding the word “continue,” which now reads as: “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God” (NKJV).  This is false doctrine.  There is no such thing as a true believer ceasing from believing on Christ.  We don’t have to “continue” in the faith to be saved; we will continue in the faith if we are saved.  Of course, this doesn’t mean that there won’t be times of discouragement in our life.  John the Baptist sent his disciples to go ask Jesus if was really the Christ (Matthew 11:3).  Yep, I’d say John was discouraged.

MacArthur Often Contradicts Himself

Here’s a perfect example of how MacArthur contradicts himself 100%.  On page 1920 of MacArthur’s Revised and Updated “Study Bible,” concerning Hebrews 12:14 and the phrase “pursue… holiness,” he states:

“Unbelievers will not be drawn to accept Christ if believers’ lives do not demonstrate the qualities God desires, including peace and holiness.”

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers, page 1920

I agree with the above interpretation by Mr. MacArthur; however, he totally contradicts himself concerning his interpretation of Hebrews 12:14 in another book he has written…

Eternal security is a great spiritual truth, but it should never be presented merely as a matter of being once saved, always savedwith no regard for what you believe or doThe writer of Hebrews 12:14 states frankly that only those who continue living holy lives will enter the Lord’s presence. [emphasis added]

SOURCE: Kingdom Living Here and Now (pg. 150).

Which is it Mr. MacArthur?  They can’t both be accurate.  The introduction to MacArthur’s Revised and Updated “Study Bible” calls him a “world-class scholar.”  I think not!  Either 1 + 1 = 3, or else 1 + 1 = 2.  It can’t be both.  I’m tired of supporters of John MacArthur quoting places where he says 1 + 1 = 2, while ignoring other places where he clearly teaches that 1 + 1 = 3.  This is exactly what MacArthur is doing.  MacArthur’s hundreds of books are at best, a compilation of confusion, contradictions and bad theology.

MacArthur’s Study Bible Is Rooted in the Heresies of the New King James Version

I could give you hundreds of examples, but here’s another one.  2nd Corinthians 2:10 in the KJB reads, “To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ.”  The meaning is clear… we forgive others because the Lord forgave us.  This is what Ephesians 4:32 teaches.  Now here’s what the dishonest NKJV changed it to: “I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ.”  They changed “person of Christ” to “presence of Christ” (ditto NASV, NRSV, RSV).  The Greek word for “person” here is prosopon, which means much more than just the presence of Christ.  The word refers to the countenance of Jesus Christ, i.e., what we see when we look at Him.  We see Christ’s love and forgiveness.  Hence, we should forgive others because of the embodiment of all that Christ is — i.e., HIS PERSON.  The NKJV distorts this truth, leading readers to believe that God is always watching us, so we should forgive.  Although that is certainly true, this is NOT what 2nd Corinthians 2:10 is teaching.

John MacArthur’s commentary of 2nd Corinthians 2:10 goes along with the corruption in the NKJV.  On page 1766 of his Revised and Updated “Study Bible,” MacArthur states concerning the phrase, “in the presence of Christ”:

“Paul was constantly aware that his entire life was lived in the sight of God, who knew everything he thought, did, and said.”

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers, page 1766

Although this is certainly a true statement, it does not properly interpret the meaning of 2nd Corinthians 2:10.  We read in Hebrews 1:3, “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.”  The King James translators (48 of them) were brilliant and highly educated men.  They knew what they were doing.  The word “presence” in 2nd Corinthians 2:10 does not adequately convey the full meaning of the Greek Word.  MacArthur has it backwards.  Paul forgave, not because he knew God was watching (although that is certainly true); rather, Paul forgave because of the influence of Christ upon his life.

The MacArthur Study Bible is as corrupt as the NKJV!!!  There are literally THOUSANDS of subtle changes in the NKJV and other modern perversions of the Scriptures that will lead you away from the truth.  Don’t be a fool, stick to your King James Bible.  The alleged “scholarliness” behind today’s modern corrupt bibles is laughable compared to the painstaking work which went into the precious and trustworthy King James Bible.  The best way to study the Bible is with a Strong’s Exhaustive Hebrew and Greek Concordance, and an Unger’s Bible Dictionary.  This way you are studying the Word of God directly, and only using reference tools to aid your study.  The cover on The MacArthur Study Bible boasts of having sold 500,000 copies.  Tragically, most of those people won’t study for themselves, but instead will just believe what MacArthur says.  This is what’s wrong with our churches today.  Jesus commanded in John 5:39… SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES!

John MacArthur’s Lame and Deceptive Bible Commentary!

By David J. Stewart

I have in front of me the “Revised and Updated” edition of The MacArthur Study Bible. It pains me to look through it, because John MacArthur’s commentary as as corrupt as is the New King James Version (hereafter referred to as NKJV) upon which it is based. I’d like to share with you some of my observations. A naive believer would have difficulty in identifying MacArthur’s theological blunders and bias toward modern corrupt bible versions, but with the Lord’s help I will show you a few things that I believe are very important.

Worshipping Jesus Ignored
Jesus Christ is worthy to be worshipped as Almighty God (John 1:1-3,14;10:33; Revelation 1:8), and we should worship Him.

Deceitfully, most modern versions remove the word “worship” concerning Jesus Christ, and replace it with a mere “knelt.” The NKJV is no exception and perverts the Word of God in Matthew 20:20. Of course, in all these perverted bibles, they still keep the word “worship” in Revelation 13:4 concerning those who worship THE BEAST! Evidently Nelson Publishers has no problem with worshipping Satan.

The King James Bible (hereafter referred to as KJB) reads in Matthew 20:20…

“Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, WORSHIPPING him, and desiring a certain thing of him..”

The corrupted NKJV reads in Matthew 20:20…

“Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him.”

Interestingly, John MacArthur, in his Revised and Updated 1997 edition of The MacArthur Study Bible fails to comment on the issue of worshipping Jesus in Matthew 8:2, 9:18; 14:33; 15:25 and so forth. What is he hiding? I believe it’s because MacArthur knows that if he comments on these Scriptures, i.e., concerning Jesus being “worshipped,” that he’ll stick his neck out, because the NKJV and other modern versions have been corrupted. The trustworthy KJB says that the mother of Zebedee’s sons “worshipped” Jesus; but the watered-down NKJV states that she only kneeled before Jesus. There’s a big difference between kneeling and worshipping. One can kneel in honor or respect of a dignitary without worshipping him. For MacArthur to comment on this issue, in lieu of these corrupted Scriptures, would open him up to much criticism.

The Greek word for “worshipping” in the KJB is proskuneo, which originates from the act of a dog licking his master’s hand. I’d say that’s worship! Yet, the corrupters of the NKJV chose a lesser meaning, than to render to Jesus Christ the worship that He is entitled to receive (Philippians 2:9-11). I’m sure if we were to interview the mother of Zebedee’s sons, and ask her if she wanted to have the word “kneel” or ” worship” used, which word do you think she would choose? You know the answer, and so did the King James translators and any other honest person. If you ask any believer who loves the Lord Jesus Christ if they would rather “kneel” or “worship” before Him, they would instantly say WORSHIP!

I find little use for a lame commentary that fails to comment on Scriptures where people worshipped the Savior, Creator and God of the universe.

God’s Promise to Preserve His Word Ignored

MacArthur fails to provide any meaningful comment on God’s promise to preserve His Word unto all generations in Psalm 12:7-8.

Lame!

The Necessity of the Literal Blood of Jesus Ignored

MacArthur also fails to provide any meaningful comment on the applied blood of the Passover lamb in Exodus 12:13. In MacArthur’s Revised and Updated “Study Bible,” he avoids Exodus 12:13 like the Bubonic Plague. Exodus 12:13 in the KJB reads, “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” MacArthur doesn’t comment concerning the necessity of applying the blood to the doorposts and lintel of the home. It baffles me as to why any professed Gospel preacher would make light of the literal blood of Jesus Christ. MacArthur has nothing good to say about Jesus’ physical blood, because he doesn’t think it has any value in and of itself.

Here are MacArthur’s comments for Leviticus 17:11, i.e., the phrase “the life of the flesh is in the blood”:

“..the shedding of blood represents the shedding of life, i.e., death … NT references to the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ are references to His death.”

What good is a “Study Bible” that ignores the most important doctrine in the entire Bible? 1st Peter 1:18,19 tells us just how important the blood of Jesus is: “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”

Corrupting of the Scriptures Ignored

The NKJV perverts Romans 1:25.

Romans 1:25 in the KJB reads:

“Who CHANGED the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”

Romans 1:25 in the NKJV reads:

“who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”

The NKJV corrupted “changed the truth” to “exchanged the truth” (ditto: NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV). Romans 1:25 in the KJB is clear that the ungodly corrupt the Word of God in an attempt to justify their sins. We see this much today. This is why the word “sodomite” has been completely removed from the demonic NIV bible, because there were homosexuals on the translating committee. The NKJV has distorted the true meaning of this Scripture, and John MacArthur’s lame commentary on Romans 1:25, the phrase “the lie,” proves it…

“A denial of God’s existence and His right to be obeyed and glorified.”

SOURCE: The Revised and Updated edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, Thomas Nelson publishers, page 1694

MacArthur is wrong, and so are Nelson Publisher’s and their garbage bible. Verses 24,26 and 27 clearly indicate that the particular sin in focus here is homosexuality. “Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves … For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature” (Romans 1:24,26). It is clear from the context of the surrounding Scriptures that Romans 1:25 is condemning those who CHANGE the word of God, i.e., corrupt the truth into a lie, to justify their sins. Most homosexuals believe in God Mr. MacArthur. There is a massive homosexualization of churches taking place in America today, and it is of the Devil.

To interpret Romans 1:25 as merely applying to atheists is to completely and inexcusably overlook the lucrative Bible-corrupting movement in America today. The Greek word for “change” in the KJB is metallasso and means “to exchange, change.” The root word for, llasso, means “to change, to exchange one thing for another, to transform.” The King James translators understood this word to condemn those who transform, or change, the truth; thus, exchanging it for a lie instead. You can’t just pick out one particular meaning as Nelson Publisher’s has done. The word metallasso means to exchange by changing, not just exchanging in itself. This is very important. Homosexuals today are exchanging the truth of God’s Word for a lie, by corrupting the Word of God. They even have their own queer bible now called the New Oxford Annotated Bible.

MacArthur fails to address the issue of corrupt bibles anywhere in his so-called “Bible Study.” Folks, the Devil is shrewd and deadly. How is it that Mr. MacArthur is smart enough to see false religions, false christs and false prophets; but yet he can’t see the forest for the trees when it comes to Satan corrupting the Word of God? There are false bibles everywhere today! Awake to righteousness!

Ghostwriting?

There are so many contradictions in The MacArthur Study Bible, as compared to MacArthur’s previous writings, that it is questionable to me if some of his commentary was written by a GHOSTWRITER.

I agree with the above interpretation; however, MacArthur totally contradicts himself concerning his interpretation of Hebrews 12:14 in another book he has written…

“Eternal security is a great spiritual truth, but it should never be presented merely as a matter of being once saved, always saved–with no regard for what you believe or do. The writer of Hebrews 12:14 states frankly that only those who continue living holy lives will enter the Lord’s presence. [emphasis added]

SOURCE: Kingdom Living Here and Now (pg. 150).

Which is it Mr. MacArthur? Those are two VERY different interpretations. MacArthur’s hundreds of books are at best, a compilation of confusion, contradictions and bad theology. It is MacArthur’s numerous contradictions, like the one I just shared with you concerning Hebrews 12:14, that naturally raise questions as to who wrote the comments in The MacArthur Study Bible. Has MacArthur revised some of his doctrines, but not said anything to anyone? If so then why is he still selling his older flawed writings, which are misleading people? I mean, either a ghostwriter wrote MacArthur’s “Study Bible” or else he is just a confused individual.

Conclusion

I plead with you to throw your NKJV into the garbage pail, and The MacArthur’s Bible Study as well if you own one. The best way to interpret the Bible is with the Bible. Commentaries are at best, risky, because you may be led away from the truth by bad theology if you don’t know any better.

MacArthur is corrupt in his views. The very fact that Mr. MacArthur denies the efficacy (i.e., redeeming power) of the literal physical blood of Jesus is enough reason to avoid him completely. MacArthur is a cult leader, just as is R.B. Thieme, Jr. who teaches the same heresy on the blood. Pastors all across America have embraced this apostate man of sin, who dares blaspheme the holiest and most precious substance in this world—the literal liquid blood of Jesus Christ! I am going to expose anyone who says that Jesus’ physical blood is worthless in and of itself. There’s not a more precious, important and holy doctrine in God’s Word than the redeeming power of Jesus’ literal liquid blood.

Read what Revelation 1:5 states in the KJB…

“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and WASHED US FROM OUR SINS IN HIS OWN BLOOD.”

To no surprise, John MacArthur has absolutely NOTHING to say about the blood of Jesus in this Scripture. Page 1992 of The MacArthur Study Bible says nothing about the precious blood in Revelation 1:5, nothing! Don’t you tell me that Mr. MacArthur is a believer! Don’t you tell me that John MacArthur is a Christian! Don’t you tell me that MacArthur loves the blood! No Sir! Dr. MacArthur is an imposter, an unsaved Modernist who name the name of Christ. There are countless good things taught by unsaved Mormons, Catholics and Jehovah’s Witnesses; but that doesn’t justify their damnable lies. MacArthur is no different. I mean, brother, If you’re wrong on the blood of Jesus—you’re wrong on everything!

And finally, here’s some startling information that you probably didn’t know about the damnable NKJV…

The NKJV removes the word “Lord” 66 times!

The NKJV removes the word God 51 times!

The NKJV removes the word “heaven” 50 times!

In just the New Testament alone the NKJV removes 2,289 words from the KJB!

The NKJV makes over 100,000 word changes!

And most changes will match the NIV, NASV, RSV, or RSV!

And Thomas Nelson Publishers have the audacity to claim in an ad for the NKJV (Moody Monthly, June 1982, back cover), “NOTHING HAS BEEN CHANGED except to make the original meaning clearer.” John MacArthur, just like so many others today, have sold out to Satan for filthy lucre sake. Jesus plainly stated, “Ye cannot serve God and mammon” (Luke 16:13).

“Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but BY HIS OWN BLOOD he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” —Hebrews 9:12

It’s The Blood Of Jesus!

R.B. Thieme, Jr. and John MacArthur Are Heretics!

By David J. Stewart
Birds of a feather flock together! In R.B. Thieme’s (pictured to the right) book, THE BLOOD OF CHRIST, ISBN 1-55764-036-X, he states on page 38…

When believers do not see the true connection between the “blood of Christ” and the animal sacrifices, these same believers are liable to reach erroneous conclusions about the blood of Christ… but it is no more bizarre than the false idea that the “blood of Christ” is somehow a literal phrase. Yet how many Christians believe just that!… We have seen that literal blood cannot bring man eternal life and that Christ’s blood is a representative analogy which describes His spiritual death.

This is EXACTLY what John MacArthur teaches…

“It is not the actual liquid that cleanses us from our sins, but the work of redemption Christ accomplished in pouring it out.” -Dr. John MacArthur

SOURCE: http://www.spurgeon.org/~phil/articles/blood.htm

Phillip R. Johnson, of spurgeon.org, has made a horrible attempt to defend John MacArthur, calling his defense, A reply to some lies being perpetrated by fundamentalist zealots (i.e., Bible-believers like me)…

http://www.spurgeon.org/~phil/articles/blood.htm

Ironically, the very article Mr. Johnson attempts to justify John MacArthur’s heresy on the blood with–condemns him! Here are the very words of John MacArthur (pictured to the left), from a letter he wrote titled, I BELIEVE IN THE PRECIOUS BLOOD (close to the bottom of his letter). MacArthur clearly DENIES the literal blood of Jesus as you will now read:

“It is not the actual liquid that cleanses us from our sins, but the work of redemption Christ accomplished in pouring it out.” -Dr. John MacArthur

“We are not saved by some mystical heavenly application of Jesus’ literal blood. Nothing in Scripture indicates that the literal blood of Christ is preserved in heaven and applied to individual believers. When Scripture says we’re redeemed by the blood (1 Pet. 1:18-19), it is not speaking of a bowl of blood in heaven. It means we’re saved by Christ’s sacrificial death.” -Dr. John MacArthur

What blasphemy!!! John MacArthur accuses Bob Jones university of starting a smear campaign against him; however, MacArthur’s own words stand in testimony against him. This has nothing to do with Bob Jones, or anyone else. This has to do with the heresy which John MacArthur, himself, and R.B. Thieme, Jr., teach concerning the precious blood of Jesus Christ. The Word of God clearly states that it is the LITERAL blood of Jesus Christ which saves us …

“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.” -Ephesians 2:13

“Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” -Hebrews 9:12

“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus.” -Hebrews 10:19

In the Old Testament, when the 10th plague was upon Egypt, God had instructed Moses to warn the people to apply the BLOOD of a slain lamb to the doorway of their homes. If they didn’t obey God, then the firstborn of that individual family would die. We read in Exodus 12:13 …

“And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.”

Did you read what God said … WHEN I SEE THE BLOOD!

If the family would have just killed the lamb (as MacArthur and Thieme teach); BUT, failed to APPLY the shed blood to the doorposts of the home, then the first born would have DIED! The blood had to be applied.

Likewise, in the Old Testament, the tabernacle Highpriest was REQUIRED to APPLY the slain lamb’s blood to the mercy seat, in the holy of holies. Leviticus 16:15 states …

“Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat.”

If the Highpriest killed the lamb; but, failed to apply the blood to the mercy seat, then the people’s sin were NOT atoned for. Clearly, the blood had to be APPLIED. John MacArthur is a heretic, who teaches that Jesus’ blood was only important in that it represented Christ’s death. In sharp contrast, the Word of God declares that the blood of Jesus Christ, itself, is the actual “liquid” that washes our sins away forever …

“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ…” -1st Peter 1:18,19

Who are you going to believe? John MacArthur? Or the incorruptible Word of God? MacArthur’s defense of Himself puts his foot in his own mouth. He is subverted of himself. How dare anyone claim that Jesus’ blood, itself, doesn’t save, in lieu of 1st Peter 1:18,19. Why doesn’t MacArthur just be honest and do the honorable thing, and admit he is terribly wrong concerning his doctrine on the blood of Jesus Christ. MacArthur is an unsaved Modernist, and is woefully wrong on the most fundamental doctrine of the Christian faith—the blood of Jesus Christ!

Please read, The Importance Of The Blood and The Blood Applied In Heaven.

The great Bible teacher, M.R. DeHaan, M.D. (pictured below), has it 100% correct when he states concerning the blood of Jesus…
The blood was to be sprinkled, remember, on the mercy seat right after the death of the substitutionary animal of sacrifice. Now Christ is, of course, our substitute. He was slain for us upon the Cross, and entered into death for us, and when He arose, He immediately went to Heaven, entered into the holy of holies in Heaven, sprinkled His precious blood upon the mercy seat before the throne of God, and forever settled the sin questions, and delivered us from the curse of the law. This is clearly taught in the New Testament. Hebrews 9:12 is very definite on this:

“But by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

The Bible also makes plain when He accomplished this. On the morning of the resurrection He meets Mary at the tomb. As soon as Mary recognized Him, she prostrated herself upon Him, and would have kissed His feet, but with shocking suddenness, Jesus emphatically says to her: “Touch me not”; and then He proceeds immediately to give the reason why Mary is not permitted to touch Him at all.

“For I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.” (John 20:17)

Literally the Lord Jesus Christ said, “Touch me not; for I now am about to ascend unto my Father.” We can understand this action when we remember the the high priest after he had offered the sacrifice, was to enter the holy of holies, before he did anything else, with the precious blood. No one was allowed to approach him. Everyone was shut out until this was completely done. And here in the record of the meeting with Mary we have the fulfillment of this type. Here Mary meets her great High Priest, just arisen from the tomb, but before He had entered the holy of holies with the reconciling blood. And so He says to her, “TOUCH ME NOT.”

What a wonderful truth! The Bible is so clear when you accept It as it’s written. The best way to interpret the Bible is to not interpret it. By diligently cross-referring Scripture with Scripture, we are able to form a complete and accurate picture of divine Truth.

What About Spurgeon?

Phillip R. Johnson has attempted to yoke John MacArthur’s damnable teachings on the blood with those of the great Baptist preacher, Charles H. Spurgeon; however, this is simply not true. Charles H. Spurgeon preached a sermon entitled, “The Blood Shedding,” February 22, 1857, from Hebrews 9:22. He describes the suffering and death of Christ, and says:

“Mark his brow-they have put about it a crown of thorns, and the crimson drops of gore are rushing down his cheeks! … But turn aside that purple robe for a moment. His back is bleeding … They lift up the thongs, still dripping clots of gore; they scourge and tear his flesh, and make river of blood to run down his shoulders! This is the shedding of blood without which there is no remission … They fling him to the ground; they nail his hands and feet to the transverse wood, they hoist it in the air … Blood from his head, blood from his hands, blood from his feet … They pierce his side, and forthwith runneth out blood and water. This is the shedding of blood, sinners and saints; this is the awful shedding of blood, the terrible pouring out of blood, without which for you, and for the whole human race, there is no remission … It is not a thing which you may doubt, or which you may believe; it must be believed and received, otherwise you have denied the Scriptures and turned aside from God.” He further states, “It cuts off every other hope, bring your hopes here, and if they are not based in blood, and stamped with blood, they are as useless as castles in the air, and dreams of night. ‘There is no remission,’ says the text, in positive and plain cords … Except you put confidence n the shedding of our Saviour’s blood, and in the blood shedding alone, for without it there is no remission.” (The New Park Street Pulpit, Vol. 3, pages 90-92, Pilgrim Publications)

Spurgeon never changed in his preaching of the blood. On May 30, 1875, he preached again from the same text. In his sermon, he repeated over and over… “Without shedding of blood is no remission.” Without resorting to lengthy quotations, we can honestly say that his doctrine never changed. He said, “It is not possible that any sin should ever be forgiven to any man without shedding of blood” (Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, Vol. 51, page 426, Pilgrim Publications). Phillip R. Johnson is taking Spurgeon’s words out of context. Spurgeon NEVER denied the power of the literal blood of Jesus Christ—he simply stated that Christ’s virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious death, burial, and triumphant resurrection were all necessary parts of Christ’s work of redemption.

In sharp contrast, R.B. Thieme, Jr. and John MacArthur DENY the efficacy of the LITERAL blood of Jesus Christ. They are unsaved heretics, because they have denied the power of the literal blood of Jesus Christ. Don’t they read the Bible? The entire Old Testament testifies of the importance of the blood applied to the mercy seat. From the blood of the innocent animal God killed to make skins of clothing for Adam and Eve, and Abel’s lamb sacrifice in Genesis, to the saints whose robes are washed in the blood of the Lamb in Revelation 7:14, the Bible is a Book of BLOOD, i.e., Jesus’ literal blood! Everything which the Old Testament high priest did led up to the climax of applying the blood to the mercy seat in the Holy of Holies. If the lamb was killed, and the blood shed, but the high priest failed to apply the shed blood to the mercy seat within the Holy of Holies—then there was NO REMISSION OF SINS for the people.

More Heretical Teachings on the Blood by Pastor R.B. Thieme, Jr.

Lt. Col. Robert Bunger Thieme, Jr. (April 1, 1918 – August 16, 2009) was pastor of Berachah Church, a nondenominational Christian church in Houston, Texas, from 1950-2003. In R.B. Thieme’s booklet, THE BLOOD OF CHRIST, ISBN 1-55764-036-X, he states on page 31…

“As the celebrity of the universe, He ascended and was seated, but He did not take any blood with Him to heaven… We have seen in great detail that His mortal, human body fluids have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with salvation.” (pg 31) [bold emphasis added]

R.B. Thieme, Jr. states that Jesus took NO BLOOD with Him into Heaven, but the Word of God calls Thieme a LIAR…

“But BY HIS OWN BLOOD he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” -Hebrews 9:12

Thieme and MacArthur are reprobates concerning the Biblical doctrine of the blood of Jesus, and they will spend eternity in the flames of Hellfire for blaspheming the Holy Spirit. To deny the saving power of the literal blood of Jesus Christ is to deny the Lord Himself, blaspheme the Holy Spirit, and attempt to approach God’s throne of grace without the blood of Jesus.

Hebrews 10:29, “Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted THE BLOOD of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?”

That’s exactly what Thieme and MacArthur are doing, i.e., counting the blood of Christ an unholy thing!

Thieme and MacArthur remind me of the Catholics, who vehemently deny worshipping Mary, while openly praising her, bowing to her, and even trusting her to give them eternal life through reciting the Rosary. Likewise, Thieme and MacArthur adamantly claim to believe in the importance of Jesus’ blood, while openly denying the efficacy of Christ’s blood, i.e., its literal saving power. They’re all a bunch of false prophets!

Please keep in mind that 90% of what Jehovah’s Witnesses teach is good wholesome Bible. It’s that 10% of damnable heresy that is going to send them straight to Hell in their sins. MacArthur and Thieme are eloquent writers, gifted speakers, and most of what they teach is Biblically sound; BUT, they are in league with the Devil when they deny the saving power of Christ’s LITERAL blood. They are pulling on the same rope as the Devil. Hebrews 10:19 states…

“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS.”

Again, the Word of God focuses on Jesus’ blood, and not His death. Was Christ’s death important? … ABSOLUTELY! However, the virgin birth, deity, sinless life, vicarious (i.e., substitutionary) death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus were all prerequisite steps to the ultimate goal—the application of Jesus’ shed blood to the Mercy Seat in Heaven! Nothing else would have mattered had Christ not ascended into Heaven with His shed blood, and applied it to the Mercy Seat before God the Father.

Oh, listen my friend, the death angel was not looking for dead lambs in Egypt—he was looking for the blood applied to the doorposts, and lintel (i.e., doorplate above the door) of each home. Exodus 12:13 reads… “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and WHEN I SEE THE BLOOD, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.”

In R.B. Thieme’s booklet, THE BLOOD OF CHRIST, ISBN 1-55764-036-X, he states…

“His literal blood has no spiritual significance.” (pgs. 22-23)

“We have seen that literal blood cannot bring man eternal life and that Christ’s blood is a representative analogy which describes His spiritual death.” (pg. 38)

Blasphemy! How could anyone deny the power of Christ’s LITERAL blood in lieu of 1st Peter 1:18,19… “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” If the blood is only “representative” of the death of Jesus, as Thieme and MacArthur claim, then why does God’s Word continually refer the the BLOOD OF CHRIST? 1st John 1:7 states, “…and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” Colossians 1:14 states, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” Notice carefully, once again, that the Bible doesn’t emphasize the death of Christ; but rather, His blood…

“But BY HIS OWN BLOOD he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” —Hebrews 9:12

Dr. John R. Rice Refutes Lordship Salvation

By David J. Stewart

I was recently reading one of Dr. John R. Rice’s books titled, Dr. Rice… Here Are More Questions, in which he beautifully refutes the heresy of Lordship Salvation. The following is a question submitted to Dr. John R. Rice concerning professed Christians who live in sin…

“We have young folks in our church who are supposed to be saved and who giggle and whisper all during church services and who say they ‘just hate’ church and ‘can’t stand’ to listen to our pastor preach. They attend movies and worldly amusements. I feel that as pastors and Sunday school teachers we do not warn those enough who think they are saved but are not born again. Shouldn’t we plead with them to go to the alter again?”

SOURCE: Dr. Rice… Here Are More Questions, by John R. Rice, pg. 76, Sword of the Lord Publishers; ISBN: 0-87398-157-X

The following is Dr. Rice’s response to the preceding question…

“Being saved, born again, is one thing; learning to live a consecrated Christian life is an entirely different thing. There is not any way you can judge whether people are born again except as you take their testimony that they have put their trust in Jesus Christ and depended on Him for salvation. Some of these young people indeed may not have been taught to trust in Christ. If they were looking for “an experience,” a certain kind of feeling or emotion, then they may have been misled. But if they honestly turned their hearts to Christ and depended on Him for salvation, they were saved.

Now a Christian should live a consecrated Christian life but that does not automatically follow. People who are saved will find, like Paul, “When I would do good, evil is present with me . . . . So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin” (Romans 7:21,25).

Every saved person still has the old carnal nature and often-times has the same kind of temptation he had before. Some people who have truly been born again have a desperate fight to quit tobacco, and some have never seemed to get the victory over that or other bad habits. Some Christians have never learned to trust the Lord enough to bring tithes and offerings, and some have never learned to win souls. When a baby is born, he is not born grown. Being born is one thing; growing is another thing entirely.

So the thing to do is to take for granted that people are saved when they trust Christ for salvation. Then one should set out to teach them to read the Bible daily, to learn to pray about their daily needs, to confess their sins and failures and grow in grace day by day. It is as foolish to expect young Christians to be good Christians by themselves as it is to expect a child, born in the family, to automatically be a great credit to the family without any rearing—whether they are spiritual babes or physical babes. I assure you that unless people are taught to be consecrated Christians, taught to read the Bible and pray, they are not likely to be good Christians, even if they are truly born again.

SOURCE: Dr. Rice… Here Are More Questions, by John R. Rice, pg. 76,77, Sword of the Lord Publishers; ISBN: 0-87398-157-X

Dr. Rice is 100% correct… “Being saved, born again, is one thing; learning to live a consecrated Christian life is an entirely different thing.” A changed life comes from growing in grace as a result of genuine repentance; and not as a part of saving-faith itself. Salvation is receiving; NOT giving.

There are many ministers today, such as John MacArthur, who falsely teach that one’s salvation is CONDITIONAL upon the life we live. MacArthur states:

“Submission to the will of God, to Christ’s lordship, and to the guiding of the Spirit is an essential, not an optional, part of saving faith” (EPHESIANS, p. 249).

“Salvation isn’t the result of an intellectual exercise. It comes from a life lived in obedience and service to Christ as revealed in the Scripture; it’s the fruit of actions, not intentions. There’s no room for passive spectators: words without actions are empty and futile…The life we live, not the words we speak, determines our eternal destiny” (Hard to Believe, p. 93).

The Word of God calls John MacArthur a liar in Romans 4:5… “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” Could the Bible be any plainer? The Scriptures speak plainly that we are saved by Jesus’ righteousness (Romans 10:3-4; 2nd Corinthians 5:21); and not any self-righteousness of our own (Isaiah 64:6; Ephesians 2:8,9; Titus 3:5). We are sinners; Jesus is the Savior.

John R. Rice is correct… “So the thing to do is to take for granted that people are saved when they trust Christ for salvation.” Proponents of the Lordship Salvation heresy expect new believers to live a consecrated Christian life from the get-go of salvation. This is not reasonable nor Biblical. New believers need to be taught and discipled.

Dr. Rice states in his excellent book, Dr. Rice… Here is My Question…

“When you get saved, you get saved not because you deserve it, but because you simply let God save you and because you confess your own poor sinful state and your inability to save yourself.”

SOURCE: Dr. Rice… Here is My Question, by Dr. John R. Rice, pg. 304; 1962, Sword of the Lord Publishers; ISBN: 0-87398-158-8

I couldn’t agree more. This is what the Bible teaches. Dr. Rice also states in his Gospel tract, What Must I Do To Be Saved…

“The change in your heart, sinner, is God’s part and you may be sure He will attend to that. Your part is to simply believe in Him. Whatever else is necessary in your eternal salvation, the Lord attends to when you trust in Him, or believe in Him.”

SOURCE: What Must I DO To Be Saved, by Dr. John R. Rice

Amen! Dr. Rice is correct. Who are we to judge whether or not a person is sincere. There’s a self-righteous group today in our churches, who demand a changed-life as a prerequisite for salvation. This is unbiblical, a heresy, and a perversion of the simple Gospel of Christ Jesus. The thing to do is to take for granted that people are saved when they simply trust Jesus Christ for salvation.
